Just a quick update note... There are so many wonderful people in the drawings each day for the 12 Days of Christmas... I am going to offer a few more drawings coming soon. I will keep your names in the drawing if you were not a winner, so watch for some new pieces available for you to win.

Ponies on the Ridge
24 x 36 inches Mixed Media on Canvas.

I started this painting several weeks ago and shared two images in progress. I am JUST now getting back to it and this would be the next image as I blocked in the horses with charcoal. Again if this does not work the painting evolves into something else. That is how man survives, if something isn't working, you have to evolve to live another day.

When you give birth to a child, you never know what lies ahead for them in their lives. You raise them up right and true and in His word. Sometimes you forget they are an individual person and they will evolve and live life as they want to live it. You pray what you have taught them will guide them in their life.

He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High. The Lord God will give him the throne of his father David, and he will reign over Jacob’s descendants forever; his kingdom will never end.” Luke 1:32-33

This has been an awesome 12 days sharing the art with you and finishing up sending out this last of the 12 paintings next week.   Sometimes we need a surprise in life that brings us a sense of comfort or excitement. I had it two weeks ago when I received an unexpected gift from a collector that needed a painting for a really special specific situation and budget was critical. I meet their needs, sent the work and was totally amazed when I received a check in the mail for four times the amount I had asked for.  It gave me pause to think, how in a small way I could make give back to my followers. When I was in the studio a day later, I knew it would be to gift out some of the paintings from the year that I had not sold.  They were small pieces with just a few large ones, but I hope they will bring some special joy to the chosen recipients.

Mary was chosen by God... and her surprise was not something she expected, nor was it something she was ready to handle. Her trust was solid, and her willingness to follow God in His plan was evident. She faced a huge risk, but knew He would take care of her. His plan was the way, the only way.

Mary was greatly troubled at his words and wondered what kind of greeting this might be. But the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; you have found favor with God. You will conceive and give birth to a son, and you are to call him Jesus. Luke 1:29-31

Hearing the Call
9 x 12 inches Acrylic on Canvas.

This is the third and last piece I did in front of the fire close to two weeks ago. Perhaps of the three it is my favorite because of the violet sky. I think it got the attention of the pony too.

*Only one day left! Remember the winners will be chosen AFTER two days because the blog comes out on one day but it is emailed the next to my subscribers, so there will always be a delay of one day.

Unplanned events can really ruffle our feathers and put a kink in our day and our lives.  An unplanned pregnancy with an unwed mother over 2000 years ago, really must of set minds a whirling.  How do you trust that God's plan is at work in your life?  Are you still trying to control everything?

In the sixth month of Elizabeth’s pregnancy, God sent the angel Gabriel to Nazareth, a town in Galilee, to a virgin pledged to be married to a man named Joseph, a descendant of David. The virgin’s name was Mary. The angel went to her and said, “Greetings, you who are highly favored! The Lord is with you.”
Luke 1:26-28

Day Tenth Twelve Days of Christmas Art Giveaways by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Patches
8 x 10 inches Acrylic on Canvas.

The tenth day painting is a summer horse painting from 2013.  I named it Patches because it basically looked like Patches. I think I was under the influence... of color.

Miracles happen every day. They surround us with their grace and light. If your eyes are not open, you cannot see them. If you heart is not open you cannot feel them.

After this his wife Elizabeth became pregnant and for five months remained in seclusion. “The Lord has done this for me,” she said. “In these days he has shown his favor and taken away my disgrace among the people.” Luke 1:24-25

Day Nine Twelve Days of Christmas Art Giveaways by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Single Joy
9 x 12 inches Acrylic on Canvas.

The ninth day painting was another one painted 10 days ago in front of the fire. Perhaps that is how the sky ended up so red... it was warm and cozy and my dog was at my feet. Another 'fun' painting to unwind that weekend. Too cold to walk and too cold and wet to leave the house.

Day Eight Twelve Days of Christmas Art Giveaways by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Hesitation
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.

The Eighth day painting is again another abstract horse painting.  This was in January of this year as we were preparing our house to go on the market. I finished some larger pieces for galleries and did a few small paintings for the daily blog.  The colors always sway me gently into this painting. Ready to slip into a frame.

Day Seven Twelve Days of Christmas Art Giveaways by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Sun Stretch
8 x 10 inches Oil on Canvas.

The seventh day painting is another abstract horse painting.  This was painted this past summer as well. I love the clarity in this painting, as well as the rich vibrant colors of the palette used.

As I chose the verse for the blog this day, I am using quite a few readings from Luke. Luke's writing is more detailed and less hurried than the other gospels. This might have been because Luke was a doctor or a healer, so he was very much into preciseness. When reading this passage I almost giggled.  How many time has someone told you something and you just could not bring yourself to believe it to be true?  Some things seem so outlandish and totally unreasonable. In this sense Angel Gabriel had told Zachariah and his wife Elizabeth that she would bear a son and they were to name him John. Zachariah scoffed at the idea because they were both so old. The angel really was not impressed with the reaction.

The angel said to him, “I am Gabriel. I stand in the presence of God, and I have been sent to speak to you and to tell you this good news. And now you will be silent and not able to speak until the day this happens, because you did not believe my words, which will come true at their appointed time.” Luke 1:19-20

Could you image being struck down mute for questioning something told to you from God?  Have you been listening lately?
