Summer Rains
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

Quiet colors, a bit off the beaten path for this artist, but really nice for a change. The muted violets and the soft yellow greens bring intrigue into the painting...and for some dissonance a bit of orange.

We all have that in our lives you know... that dissonance... the part of us that flares out different from the core of who we are. Mine is the color red that 'flares' up in my life occasionally in clothes and now in the color of my car.  It is like the 'rebel' in me I guess. Red was my Dad's favorite color and when he was in his last year of life I bought my car, my red car, and it's name is Gerald after my dad.

My kids are laughing if they are reading this.  My youngest told me at breakfast last Sunday that before I died he wanted a written confession of all the bad things I ever did because I am such a 'quiet' person that really tries to do good.  I told him I had a few major hiccups in life... ones I still regret this day but know that God has forgiven me.  I sin daily and I know all sins are equal in God's eyes...but there are these certain ones that I learned from and they passionately changed my life for the better...making me a better person. Do not think they are up for "sharing", but maybe they are... read the bible verse below from James.

So even though dissonance sounds like 'rebel'... it does not have to be... it is simply part of the facet of who you are. Dissonance in a piece of art actually makes it stronger, so why would it not do that for us in our lives?

James 5:13-16
Is anyone among you in trouble? Let them pray. Is anyone happy? Let them sing songs of praise. Is anyone among you sick? Let them call the elders of the church to pray over them and anoint them with oil in the name of the Lord. And the prayer offered in faith will make the sick person well; the Lord will raise them up. If they have sinned, they will be forgiven. Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.

Sunrise Greeting Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Sunrise Greeting
8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

Even if I tried over and over I could not possibly get a good shot of this painting. The intensity of the sunrise with the pinks and golds and oranges is incredible.  Made me think of Colorado or even Wyoming near Jackson Hole. The skies clear and the sunrise vivid.

Some mornings we wake up and life seems ready for us. Our plans are in place for the day and the things outlined that we need to accomplish. We anticipate joyfully all ahead, jump out of bed, dress and start that day...but...have you forgotten something?  Is God on that list?  He should be the waking thought... and the words of eagerness and joy thanking Him before you even push that foot out from under those covers.  Bring God back into your day, your hour, your minutes...give Him an active role in your life.

Therefore confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you may be healed. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective. James 5:16

Morning Mist, Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Morning Mist
18 x 24 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

I painted with a brush on this canvas allowing the paint to take its own path. There is an undercoating of acrylic and then I began to work oils across the surface.

Here is a shot of the weak acrylic wash over the surface.  In this shot I had just begun to use the soft yellow oils behind the neck and shoulder area on the horse.  It sat over a weekend before I came back to it.

In art and in life you will learn quickly that if it is good today, it is good tomorrow.  Waiting on things and praying about them is the only way to allow God to work in your life.

Horse 35 Spring Winds, Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Horse 35 Spring Winds
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

The green of spring took over this canvas with deliciously thick layers of oil. I could have added more blooming colors, but felt a balance as I worked on this. Notice the small field of blue at the foot of the middle horse in this horse painting.  There is a tiny bit of teal in the sky and some outlines of blue on the horses but the off center placement at the foot of the painting really creates balance.

What does it take in your life to create balance? Where do you go in your mind for calm or quiet? What is your vision if you were to meditate and slowly began to breathe in and out?

It is so easy during the day to get 'unbalanced'.  We are pulled so many directions we often stay unbalanced. The peace we need is right there. It may be a small 'spot of blue' in the picture of our day, but believe me it is there. Focus on the most precious... focus on Him. Find a visual where ever you are that you can lose yourself in the moment and breathe.

That is why this blue is in this painting. Someone will buy this piece and that blue may be their focus... to remind them of the peace that awaits them from the Father.

Horse 34 Catching Up, Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Horse 34 Catching Up
10 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

I was really hesitant when I approached this canvas. It is not small but borders on medium sizing and not one I normally paint. This is NOT a panel canvas, this is a stretched canvas, so the pricing is higher on this piece because of that. You could hang this one without a frame.

The colors patterned out pretty strong with my knife, not much pink but a flash here and there. It is a bold contrast between warm and cool colors; at the same time a bold race in this horse painting of three mares racing in the spring winds.  I think I love it.

The winds have not let up here at home. The garden is thriving despite the constant breeze of 25 mph out of the south. Terry is working on the rose beds right now and the roses are blooming in every direction. We have a Mr Lincoln, Mr Kennedy, Don Juan, ... we have 10 different names... wonder why they are all men?  Is this a reflection on the thorns involved? Just sayin...    Roses are a bold flower, deeply filled with color and fragrance.  What rose would you be?  I like the one below.  Audrey, our neighbor in Justin, Texas, grew roses so easily. I loved taking pictures.

After they prayed, the place where they were meeting was shaken. And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and spoke the word of God boldly. Acts 4:31

The Painted Ponies Gathering 2 The Passing of Spring by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

The Painted Ponies Gathering 2 The Passing of Spring
32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

If you look at the last posting and this one you can see how beautifully the colors pulled out to create the atmosphere foundation in this new Painted Ponies Painting.  Why the Passing of Spring?  We just had Easter and a week of on and off storms and it feels like the storms are passing leaving blue skies and sunshine.  Spring in Texas means STORMY weather.

Here is a close up of this painting and it is available. You can see more close ups on the site hyperlinked above.

This reminds me of a painting I did about three years ago  with the arrival of fall. In this painting soft strong colors creating the 'atmosphere' recalling the haze of soft falling rain and drizzle.

Life is a constant change and it includes storms. Trusting that God can secure us through the worst, we watch for the soft rain and the clearing skies to show His peace with us and with the world.

"I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth." Genesis 9:13

Horse 32 Circus Pony 2
8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

The texture in this painting is quite evident. The foundation again was paper from books and then paint. Please visit my website to see close up images of each of my paintings.

Here are pictures of the garden as I promised. Terry is working on it still today so I will post more.  Lady L comes to help daily and she gets 25 cents for watering every day.  She posed as a scarecrow in the last picture.

This weekend is Easter weekend so I am off the computer for the next 48 hours. I will prepost a painting for tomorrow.

Blessings for Abundance, of love and joy.
