Two at the Raising Contemporary Abstract Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas.

This too was painted at my last workshop. I love the connectivity of this painting with the flow of line and movement, like the earth continually turning and the horses standing watching the sunrise and the moonrise... two together at the raising.  This is a pretty unique contemporary Abstract Horse Painting.

 "The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God— children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband’s will, but born of God."    John 1:9-13

18 Strength of Day Abstract Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

16 x 20 inches Oil on Canvas.

This was painted at my workshop last weekend using left overs from one artist's palette.  This is always a challenge to me to scoop up the left overs and see what I can do with it. I absolutely love the painting that came out of it... strong horse painting, so I named it Strength of Day.

I will give thanks to you, Lord, with all my heart;
    I will tell of all your wonderful deeds.
I will be glad and rejoice in you;
    I will sing the praises of your name, O Most High.
Psalm 9:1-2

This horse painting started with dots of paint on the canvas...then it became a pot of flowers... and THEN I pulled all the colors and found my horses running in the meadow of green grass and sunlight.

Every single day I keep this verse in mind and heart:

You are my refuge and my shield;  I have put my hope in your word.

Racing the Night Summer Herd 11 Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Summer Herd 2013  Racing the Night #11
8 x 10 inches Oil on Canvas.

So many of my little herd have sold already this summer, so I decided to do a few more.  This contemporary Horse Painting is number 11 in the summer herd series of 2013. The palette knife paint is a bit thicker than many of these little ones, but I got carried away.

Notice how we do that in life? We get carried away with things.  We always are thinking about what would make us happy and things to please ourselves. We seem to forget that God knows what best would please us.  He know the secrets in our hearts and the desires we keep hidden from others. At the same time He probably chuckles because we really do not know what is best for us.  Just like a Dad with his precious child.  It is so easy as a parent to know what your child needs. They are hungry and they want a cookie… but you know they are hungry and they need fruit or vegetables, something healthy.

 Maybe it is time to see what God has in store for you.

Summer Herd 2013 Contemporary Horse Paintings #9 Red Eagle by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

9 x 12 inches Acrylic on Canvas.

I was working with Alizarin Crimson and an orange of sorts and I came across this green an it became a must in the composition. I chose to use it boldly. Sometimes in life we have to be bold and step out of our safe zones. God not only follows us, He leads us and when we falter He carries us.
So Saul stayed with them and moved about freely in Jerusalem, speaking boldly in the name of the Lord.  Acts 9:28

Summer Herd 2013 Contemporary Horse Paintings #8 Patches by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

10 x 12 inches Acrylic on Canvas.

Same pose from the same picture as # 7 Contemplation Summer Herd 2013.  This began with a knifed background and then a switch to a brush with some glazing layers and then some straight acrylic layers. I love the effects of this with the transparent peaking through like a weave in the composition.

Summer Herd 2013 Contemporary Horse Paintings #4 Surprise by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

  © G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

8 x 8 inches Acrylic on Canvas.

This was excitement building as I painted this contemporary palette knife horse painting.  It reminded me of our do Paddy and how he plays.  Horse have a really neat sense of humor at times.  They learn little things to get your attention that can sometimes be cute or obnoxious.

Kids are like that too.  They learn what buttons to push just to get some type of response from us.  If you think a step forward, God knows how to get our attention as well when we are wandering off in the wrong direction.
