Color Rising, Contemporary Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Color Rising
24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD

A beautiful new painted pony piece for a friend in San Francisco to decorate her new law office.  She asked for the feminine colors and I think I delivered it in this contemporary horse painting.

With some deep thought and a lot of prayer, I may be not be blogging daily.  I can only believe you get tired of getting my emails daily and seeing either older pieces or old thoughts even at times.

With the job of editor of Visual Language Magazine I stay pretty involved on the computer with many artists daily. I am working this spring to be back in the studio more and bring to you NEW work and new pieces and new ideas for art.  If there is anything you would like to see me paint, please email me by clicking HERE, or going to my website and use the CONTACT ME page.

I want to celebrate you this year and try to give back more to my collectors, so you will have to check in occasionally for give aways. Books, paintings and more.

From Gary Mueller, a Methodist Minister on Facebook is posted a comment from last Friday. I have to stop focusing on the struggle of making it all work and focus on what is working and the gifts I have and want to share.

“God Really Does Change Your Life!”
by Gary Mueller

Something destructive happens when you choose to focus on what you don’t have – the right job, the house you want, the car of your dreams or enough money in the bank. Something wonderful happens when you focus on what you do have - even in the midst of real struggles in your life. When you focus on what you don’t have, you quickly develop an attitude of entitlement. This inevitably makes you more and more self-centered, which takes you away from God. However, when you focus on what you do have, you begin to experience overwhelming gratitude. This makes you more and more God-centered, which takes you into a ever-deeper relationship with God. The irony, of course, is that the more you make it all about you, the more you struggle. While, the more you make it about God, the better off you are. Confused? Well that’s exactly why it’s important to remember that God really does change your life! #GodNMe

BTW... Happy Birthday to my youngest son... he is one of my greatest gifts from God.  Hope to see him more in the studio this year too.

Summer Winds Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Summer Winds
40 x 40 inches Oil on Canvas.

Summer Winds was quite a progressive Horse Painting. I began by rotating my canvas on the easel a quarter turn at a time and working the entire canvas with layers of paint. After I covered the entire surface I immediately knew what I saw in the painting. These are not normal palette colors for me, but I was pulled strongly to thinking of summer winds and how when they are strong they feel like they could blow right through you. They become a part of who you are. Same in the painting... the summer winds are not cold, but they move through each horse in the herd with the layers of paint weaving it all together.

This piece is at MIrada Fine Art in Denver.

Beneath the Branches, Contemporary Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D.  Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

24 x 36 inches Oil on Canvas.

Venetian Plaster is the base on this contemporary Horse Painting, followed by acrylic overlays and then 20 layers of oil blending into pure sensual power.

You can buy this painting by clicking here if it is still available.

When I gaze around the world, I see His creation everywhere, yet much is overrun by man's creation.  Cities are towering and more cement is laid daily as populations spread oozing out from the city itself.

Perhaps that is part of the tension and creation in this painting. It built simply and exploded with passion as the days went by and I worked on it.

How do we stop the massive march of man to have more, build more and be more, when he is truly nothing without God? Carving out time in a busy day to spend it with God rarely happens.  Too much pulls our attention and even more demands our time with constant pressure.  One day we will realize how much has been lost, yet God waits patiently for us to come to Him.

Monday Art Lesson with Laurie Pace, and register for free Horse Painting by Wednesday, Nov 20th, 2013.

Combing Elements to create a Painting through color and composition.

This Monday Lesson is about combing more elements. using color to create movement on the surface of this small canvas, I have no intent of what will be painted here.  I literally am basing the color application on good composition and movement along with balance.

This is a small 9 x 12 inch board canvas and I am working the undercoating with acrylics.

After the surface is dry, I began to use my finger in more wet acrylic paint and began to push around the surface trying to mold in my mind what I wanted to form on the composition.  As you know I paint a lot of horses so of course that is what came to mind. See if you can line these up to note where I saw the movement to create this piece.  If I looked long enough, I might have flipped the painting and created a floral piece.

After securing a horse in mind I use more finger painting to form things up and then it was the palette knife I reached for. The layers of color came together with thick swipes of paint.

Head Strong, Colorful Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2013

Head Strong
12 x 12 x 2 inches Oil on Canvas.

This is a fun thick canvas with color and paint and energy.
Available and the perfect holiday gift and very affordable.

This one does not need a frame, it is ready to hang.

This was a verse that really spoke to me this morning. Think about it when you read it.

"Anyone who claims to be in the light but hates a brother or sister is still in the darkness. Anyone who loves their brother and sister lives in the light, and there is nothing in them to make them stumble. But anyone who hates a brother or sister is in the darkness and walks around in the darkness. They do not know where they are going, because the darkness has blinded them." 1 John 2:9-11

Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Tree Transformation

40 x 40 Oil on Canvas SOLD.

This is where my tree painting came to rest. It started out in one direction but I firmly believe God's spirit drew me another way. It lives up in the Northeast now.

Words of my heart:
Free yourself, like a gazelle from the hand of the hunter, like a bird from the snare of the fowler.  Proverbs 6:5

There is nothing like a walk along the shoreline at the lake and visiting our white ducks. We hear them jabbering every day and watch them from the dam, but walking on the waters edge makes it clear they are trusting.  READ more here.

Journey of a horse painting Rio Grande by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2012

Journey Continues Rio Grande Horse Painting, not done yet....
8 x 5 Feet Oil on Canvas  Commission SOLD

This is my first pulled back look at the painting. It is huge in my studio and I am not able to light the far top right corner for you to see the balance in the painting.  I see spots that need more work and that is where I will be working next. I will post the final later this week.

Words of my Heart...

You make known to me the path of life; you will fill me with joy in your presence, with eternal pleasures at your right hand.
Psalm 16:11

Fall is creeping in and the leaves are turning... the golds and reds are salting and peppering across the piney greens.  It is a glorious time to walk and enjoy God's beauty surrounding us.  We have much to celebrate and give thanks for.

Running in Color
32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas. Mirada Fine Art

Not sure I am finished but this horse painting is a big one. Four feet in height and almost three feet wide.  I went through 22 tubes of paint so that tells you how thick the pulls are. This is not photographed in great light so I may repost later this week as I finish it up.  It is in the sit and watch mode.
