It is time to think about spring painting for new pieces for different galleries. This particular piece will travel to Jackson Hole, Wyoming to be at the Rare Gallery.  They have represented my work since 2007.  They requested a painted pony pull (above) a large wolf and maybe a second painted pony pull and a buffalo painting.

I chose this quiet color palette of blues, purples and violets to be in contrast of my normally wild colors that seem to cover the spectrum. When Stacey, my daughter, said it was a thumbs up, I knew it was good as gold! So I sent the image up the Rare and they loved it.

Meanwhile on the home front... Paddy got a hair cut today.  I do not even recognize my own dog.  Terry tired out toward the end so he has an uncut fluffy face and big furry ears and a sheared body. He looks rather lopsided. He has a big big head and a skinny body on a big lanky dog.
I think he is proud because he is clean...hopefully he might get his face and ears finished tomorrow.

I have my work cut out for me.  Been busy with Visual Language Magazine. Our largest issue ever is due out the first week of April. We are at over 200 pages with this issue and I am NOT sure how it will load to Magcloud for printing this large.

Sometimes it is best not to waste time worrying until the job is at hand and you tackle. Even then worry has no positive energy to add to completing the job.

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
Romans 15:13

Wild Wind Horse Painting #17 by Texas Artist Laurie Pace $100 Horse Paintings

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Wild Wind # 17
28 x 56 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

These are my favorite colors.. maybe a little heavy on the greens but I love violets and blues.  This is the thickest paint on all three I just finished and it felt so 'delicious' like icing on a cake.  If this one does not sell it will hang by my computer upstairs.  I love the action and the incredible emotion in this small horse painting.

Emotion comes in all sizes... the disappointments, the joy, the laughter, the love... all of it. We are each individuals that display emotions differently, some displays stronger than others, and some often overlooked by our ability to hide our emotions behind our walls.
Not sure where I am going with this as being a woman and an artist, I am an emotional maze in constant change.  This I would not change because it is invaluable as an artist to know the highs and lows, the joy and the pain. It gives a full range of perspective for painting.

The prospect of the righteous is joy, but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing. Proverbs 10:28

Horse #16 Circus Horse by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Horse #16 Circus Horse
8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas.

Wild colors are the result of having Lady L in the studio while I am working. She had a hankering for yellow and hence I have a horse painting with lots of yellows. Yellow is not really a color I use often so this is a rare painting by that definition alone.

This day is a busy day for family and that is something that we cherish in life, our family. Growing together, sharing together, learning together and living together.  Terry and I are so happy to be back close to our family and really enjoy our grandchildren and our children more each passing week. Lady L is over daily for home school, but now she will be painting again in the studio with me. Watch for some of her work soon on my blog.

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,  1 Peter 3:15

Horse #15 White Horse by Texas Artist Laurie Pace, Horse Paintings

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Horse 15 White Horse
8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

I was painting with Lady L in the studio as I began this one. The surface paint again in acrylic and then about 10 over layers of oil before the horse is started. With the horse there are at least five more layers of paint. These take a two to three hours each to do and right now I am promising to do them at $100 each... but I am thinking about doing a few a bit larger for $145 each as well.  Email me your thoughts on this. I was thinking 12 x 12. If I push any larger than that the prices have to jump as that is then in the sizes I do for my galleries and it costs much more to ship them.

White Horse appears next to a waterfall of purple and blues and white... sliding into the green landscape below.  The contrast of orange with the blue and the red with the green. Makes it all lush.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.

Horse #14 Spring Fever by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Horse #14 Spring Fever    sold
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.

I loved the fresh palette on this small painting.  Trying different things is always a challenge. There seems to be a false sense of safety in doing it the old way all the time.  I know growth only comes with taking a chance and trying no things.  See that fresh light blue on the bottom left? He stands alone although there are traces of him in the blue section on the bottom right.

Salting and Peppering find darker blues through out the edging of the horses.  The orange and blue are contrasting colors and the green on the edge of blue on the color wheel makes this palette a complementary split but with analogous colors. Here is a good link that explains some of the choices you have while painting. CLICK HERE>
After you paint awhile, it becomes second nature to know what works nicely together... just do not get into a rut.

He has saved us and called us to a holy life—not because of anything we have done but because of his own purpose and grace. This grace was given us in Christ Jesus before the beginning of time, 2 Timothy 1:9 NIV

Horse #13 Fly Away, Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Horse #13 Fly Away
9 x 12  inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

The energy in this painting bounds off the surface of the canvas. It seems like a startling palette but it is filled with balance and energy as the reds and oranges make is seem blazing with power. The two horses seem to be jumping across a river of golden energy pouring down from the sun.

Hoping Spring might be here in Texas.  We had cold this past weekend but we are hitting eighty this week for the first time!  Fly Away Winter!

Horse #12 Hesitation by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Horse #12 Hesitation
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas. $100

I absolutely love doing this small ones again. It seems to open up so much potential for larger paintings.  There is a sense of freedom with the color and the fear of 'correctness' does not seem to creep in. The creation is in the palette and the mix directly on the canvas.

Again with this horse painting there is a layer of colors of acrylics and then the oils pulled on top in the same areas. It is 'accidental' happenings as they mix and take form.

Yesterday Terry and I drove out to east Texas to Mount Vernon where we use to live. I tried to reach Ann on our way there, but I missed her. She is a dear friend that I could have used her hug!  We visited the Fletchers, our oldest friends since junior high. They have 200 acres, cows, horses, donkeys, birds, snakes... you name it, it is probably there! It was short three hour visit for the four hours of travel time, but I am glad we went.  It left me with some sneezing today...but hopefully that will be short lived! I did get LOTS of horse pictures that support my work... along with some trees and pathways.

Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV
