The Painted Ponies Gathering 2 The Passing of Spring
32 x 48 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

If you look at the last posting and this one you can see how beautifully the colors pulled out to create the atmosphere foundation in this new Painted Ponies Painting.  Why the Passing of Spring?  We just had Easter and a week of on and off storms and it feels like the storms are passing leaving blue skies and sunshine.  Spring in Texas means STORMY weather.

Here is a close up of this painting and it is available. You can see more close ups on the site hyperlinked above.

This reminds me of a painting I did about three years ago  with the arrival of fall. In this painting soft strong colors creating the 'atmosphere' recalling the haze of soft falling rain and drizzle.

Life is a constant change and it includes storms. Trusting that God can secure us through the worst, we watch for the soft rain and the clearing skies to show His peace with us and with the world.

"I have set my rainbow in the clouds, and it will be the sign of the covenant between me and the earth." Genesis 9:13

Horse 32 Circus Pony 2
8 x 8 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

The texture in this painting is quite evident. The foundation again was paper from books and then paint. Please visit my website to see close up images of each of my paintings.

Here are pictures of the garden as I promised. Terry is working on it still today so I will post more.  Lady L comes to help daily and she gets 25 cents for watering every day.  She posed as a scarecrow in the last picture.

This weekend is Easter weekend so I am off the computer for the next 48 hours. I will prepost a painting for tomorrow.

Blessings for Abundance, of love and joy.

I really sweated and work through this one. Totally different palette, out of the box AND the studio for me.  I would think I had it complete, take images and look at them in reverse in Photoshop and race back into the studio, moving around the thick layers of paint, adjusting here and there and back up to photoshop... I must have been up and down the stairs 15 trips as this one came to it's finish.  I sent photos of it off to Steve at Mirada for first 'look' and it shall indeed be heading to Mirada Fine Art in Denver and will be available soon. If you find yourself in love...with the painting, please email ME or email STEVE.

If you declare with your mouth, “Jesus is Lord,” and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved. Romans 10:9-10

Horse 27 Four in a Row by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Horse 27 Four in a Row
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas. SOLD
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

Well, I was working on a large 32 x 48 inch painting and I had some leftover paint.  I was brought up not to waste things so of course I had some prepared boards, this one had pages from my old Bible on it along with four pages from a western novel and it was all just 'sitting' there waiting for paint—patiently I might add.

So I brought this one over and began to work the paint, spinning the canvas and rotating it as I applied the paint.  Think it went well. As I posted on my website last night, it was only up about 30 seconds and someone bought it. BUT the good news is ... I listed several new pieces so go check them out.

Terry has been so busy building things in the backyard and I need to go out and take pictures to share.  I worked painting until near nine last night and had to prepare everything in photoshop so it was a late night for me working. Terry is creating such a gorgeous haven for us to relax in and I did spend an hour sitting outside with him as he worked building a picket fence.  He wins my heart over and over every day.

Let no debt remain outstanding, except the continuing debt to love one another, for whoever loves others has fulfilled the law. Romans 13:8

Horse 31 Stopping for Water Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

Horse 31 Stopping for Water
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

I loved the colors in this horse painting. It is like a plate full of veggies with deep rich vibrant hues contrasting and playing with the eye as it discovers the horses.  Still getting stronger at this to try it on a larger surface. That may be next tomorrow.

Today is Palm Sunday, rich with meaning for our family and filled with memories of past Easter seasons.

Also, I want to add a Happy Birthday today to my youngest brother.... a joy to our family from the day he was born.

One of my favorite images is my Dad and Lady L on Dad's last Easter with us in this lifetime. This was in 2011. My dad loved this great grand-daughter and was always smiling when he saw her.

Now when they drew near to Jerusalem and came to Bethphage, to the Mount of Olives, then Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go into the village in front of you, and immediately you will find a donkey tied, and a colt with her. Untie them and bring them to me. If anyone says anything to you, you shall say, ‘The Lord needs them,’ and he will send them at once.” This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet, saying, “Say to the daughter of Zion, ‘Behold, your king is coming to you, humble, and mounted on a donkey, and on a colt, the foal of a beast of burden.’”
Matthew 21:1-11

Horse 30 In The Pink Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

In The Pink
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

Yes, so Lady L was visiting and we always visit the color Pink. I used the same new approach with this painting as I did the first two.  It truly is a 'freeing' feeling when working over these small canvas. Not sure how it will work on a larger horse painting.

Terry is off restriction now with his eyes. He is building square foot gardening in our back yard. We bought all the organic peat moss, organic compost and the vermiculite to fill each of the four beds with. Lady L will be over helping with the planting and hopefully later with harvesting and eating.  I am making out a list today of what we are growing.  Pumpkins are at the top of Lady's L's list. We may have to grow those at her house. I remember my mother growing watermelons in the dogrun out in the backyard when we were growing up. She had stopped using the dog run for the dogs.. .it was a wide one with a white picket type fence and inside she planted the watermelons.  Personally I love honey dew and cantaloupe too!

So in Christ Jesus you are all children of God through faith.
Galatians 3:26

Norse 29 Two Together Horse Painting by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Two Together
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

Second in the "out of the box" series still refining a different approach to the canvas and building up my determination and courage to do a very very large one soon.  Soft colors and a different palette create the textured back drop for these two pony pals standing in a field blooming with flowers.

Such gorgeous weather.. and I spent most of yesterday in bed with a kidney stone... but the best part of the day was sitting outside around six enjoying the warmer weather, and watching Terry putter around the back yard. He goes off restriction today, so I know he has many plans ahead for the day. Paddy got a haircut yesterday too.. I need to take his picture for you! Will try to do that... and take pictures of the flower Terry is planning on finishing up in the backyard. He has nursed 13 rose bushes through the winter and it is time to plant.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. The life I now live in the body, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. Galatians 2:20

Horse 28 Windstorm by Texas Artist Laurie Pace Horse Paintings

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Horse 28 Windstorm
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

I went climbed out of the box on the next few pieces I will be posting. Nothing like going one direction and ending up 180 degrees the other way.
Soft colors blending and building creating an enticing surface to explore. This first one in this new approach is a single horse, painted while the winds were blowing about 65 mph outside in the storms we have had.

SO I named this one Windstorm. In the middle of painting this the storm carried on outside my studio this past weekend.

For if, while we were God’s enemies, we were reconciled to him through the death of his Son, how much more, having been reconciled, shall we be saved through his life! Romans 5:10

Racing the Morning by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Racing the Morning
28 x 42 inches Oil on Canvas.
Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

This is a colorful burst of sunlight and energy as three horses race across the canvas. The details of this painting are gorgeous. Stop by the link above and see it up close and personal.

Terry is healing nicely. He has four more days of restrictive living and he is counting the moments. This morning we awoke to the smoke detector going off... and that involved a ladder and a climb. He stayed in his boundaries changing out the battery but we made note that the ladder my dear father bought us 23 years ago was getting feeble...just like us. So next week after NASCAR has left the area, we will stop by and get a new ladder.  Makes the climb a bit less shaky.

Also on the ladder the day before having to shove screen inside on of our side vents on the house. Birds had figured out how to flip the facial door on in (the dryer vent) and were inside building away.  I held the tall 20 footer yesterday keeping him steady...no looking down, no bending down and no picking up anything above 20 pounds. I did not see NO CLIMBING ladders on the list from the doctor.

For Christ’s love compels us, because we are convinced that one died for all, and therefore all died. And he died for all, that those who live should no longer live for themselves but for him who died for them and was raised again. 2 Corinthians 5:14-15

Horse 26 Standoff at at the Brazos River, Horse Paintings by Texas Artist Laurie Pace

© G.O.D. Laurie Justus Pace      Graphics One Design 2014

Standoff at the Brazos River
9 x 12 inches Oil on Canvas.

Available Paintings by Laurie Pace

The deep dark shadows of the woods around the Brazos River flowing through Hill Country in Texas. This area is steeped with so much history you could fill hundreds of books. Shafts of golden sunlight cut through the trees and glisten at the riverbank. The lead horse reflects the greens and blues of the river as the light bounces off of it.

What is happening in your life that bounces and reflects off of you onto others? As an artist I want to believe that my 'free' spirit weaves itself into my paintings and work. I want something deeper than just 'reflection.' I do not want the work to be lacking.

Consider it pure joy, my brothers and sisters,[a] whenever you face trials of many kinds,  because you know that the testing of your faith produces perseverance.  Let perseverance finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. James 1:2-4
